Shipping Policy

Everything you need to know about how we ship your purchases from the U.S. to Africa.

Last updated: January 2026

1. Shipping Methods

Nara Africa offers three shipping options to get your purchases from the U.S. to your doorstep:

  • Expedited Shipping — Ships with a tracking number. Typically arrives worldwide within 5–7 days. Customs duties and taxes are the customer’s responsibility.
  • Priority Shipping — Orders leave our New York location on Fridays during the same week we receive items from the vendor. Delivery usually takes 7–10 business days after dispatch. Nara covers customs and duties. Only local courier tracking numbers are available.
  • Standard Shipping — Also ships from New York on Fridays during the week we receive items. Delivery typically takes 2–3 weeks after dispatch. Only local courier tracking numbers are available. Nara handles customs and duties. This option is available in select countries and is used for products classified as hazardous for air transport (perfumes, sprays, batteries).

2. Shipping Rates

Shipping costs depend on total weight or volumetric weight, item category, destination country, and your preferred shipping method.

  • Expedited: Weight (lbs) × $20 plus $50 service charge
  • Priority: Weight (lbs) × $10 plus $30
  • Standard: Weight (lbs) × $10 plus $30

Volumetric weight may apply for large, lightweight packages. The greater of actual weight and volumetric weight is used to calculate the shipping cost.

3. Customs & Duties

Customs and duty responsibilities vary by shipping method:

  • Expedited: Customer pays all customs duties and taxes upon delivery.
  • Priority & Standard: Nara handles customs and duties on your behalf in eligible destinations.

4. Tracking

We provide tracking for all shipments:

  • Expedited (DHL): Full international tracking from pickup to delivery.
  • Priority & Standard: Local courier tracking numbers are provided once the package arrives in your country.

5. Consolidation

We can receive multiple packages from different U.S. stores and ship them together in one consolidated shipment. This helps reduce your total shipping cost. Let us know if you’d like to consolidate before we dispatch your order.

6. Delivery Destinations

We ship to most African countries via Expedited shipping. Priority and Standard shipping are available in select countries. If you are unsure whether we ship to your location, please contact us before placing an order.

7. Delays

While we strive to meet all estimated delivery timelines, delays may occur due to customs processing, holiday seasons, carrier disruptions, or circumstances beyond our control. We will notify you promptly if any significant delays affect your shipment.

8. Hazardous Items

Items classified as hazardous for air transport—such as perfumes, sprays, and batteries—will automatically use Standard Shipping regardless of the method selected at checkout. This is a carrier and safety requirement.
